› Health benefits
Saw palmetto is used today as a supplement to treat urinary symptoms associated with an enlarged prostate gland. It is also used for pelvic pain, decreased sex drive, migraines, hair loss and more. However, there is currently no scientific evidence that use of the saw palmetto plant can help with any medical condition. High-quality scientific studies have concluded that the plant is no more effective than a placebo when it comes to relief of urinary tract symptoms from prostate enlargement. Most studies on saw palmetto included only men, and there haven’t been many studies on the effects of the plant on women and children.
