Here Come the Holidays

Will the holidays be more significant and meaningful after the last 20 months? Here's how to make them so.

Start a New Tradition

For some of us, the 2020 holiday season was a difficult time and perhaps we weren't prepared to try something new. Now's the time.

  • Make homemade holiday cards. You can even Go Green and make them using recyclable materials or by repurposing junk mail.
  • Plan an evening of goal sharing. Have everyone present (virtually or in person) share a goal they wish to achieve in the next year. After a goal is shared, have everyone explain what they can do to help support each person in accomplishing their aspiration.

Even if you choose to stick with the tried-and-true, there’s nothing wrong with reimagining a decades-old family tradition to make it more meaningful for your family today.

      Please Pass the … Positive

Many of us, especially during the lockdown era, had extra time on our hands.

Perhaps a new language was learned, someone learned to play an instrument, a new hobby was started, or an old one received renewed interest?

Maybe someone got to know a neighbor better or was reunited with a family member?

Have everyone prepared to share their “best thing that happened” over the last 20 months.

          Make Melodious Moments

These Aerosmith lyrics say it best: “Sing with me, sing for the year / Sing for the laughter, and sing for the tear.”

Whether you sing Christmas carols or songs of faith, a virtual sing-along is perfect for the tone compromise. As long as everyone joins in, no one will notice the occasional off-key choir member.

Did someone learn to play the guitar during the last 20 months? Take center stage, my friend!
