Jourdan Baldwin and Niccole Hendrickson

Jourdan Baldwin and Niccole Hendrickson own KALO Fitness, a women’s-based small-group and personal-training studio in Washington Park, Denver. They have been working in the fitness industry as personal trainers for a consecutive 20+ years and their sessions include a blend of strength training, mobility and metabolic conditioning. In addition to their scientifically based programming, they also incorporate nutrition, breathwork, mindfulness and community building into every session. If you can’t make it in to train with them in person, they film the exact workouts they do in their studio each week and upload them to their virtual platform (KALO Virtual) so that no matter where you are in the world, you can still access their top-of-the-line programming and workouts. Stay on the lookout for live, Zoom-based workouts as well, during which the trainers can monitor your movement patterns and intensity levels, providing real-time metrics on your virtual workout, using cutting-edge AI fitness technology, enabled by Exer Studio.

Exer Studio

Exer Studio is a community-focused engagement tool for coaches to motivate their athletes. As a companion to live-streaming virtual workouts, Studio provides real-time data and metrics on everyone in the fitness class, using the camera on an athlete’s device to track movements, which calculate physical output and exertion via a motion score. Founded on the mission to help everyone move, train and play better, Exer Studio focuses on accessibility, authenticity and enjoyment for all users.

Pre/post-workout nutrition tips:

Pre-workout: If you’re hungry, eat a small, easily digestible carbohydrate that is less than 30 grams, 30 to 60 minutes before your workout.

Ideas:

  • 1/2 of a banana or apple
  • a handful of berries
  • 1/2 of a Larabar

Post-workout: Females have a much narrower window of timing for optimizing recovery post-workout. Therefore, we recommend our clients eat a small meal or shake fortified in protein and carbs within 30 minutes of a workout.

Ideas:

  • OWYN protein shake
  • overnight oats made with protein powder
  • Greek yogurt + berries
