The Story Behind Wilde Brands Chicken Chips

Jason Wright isn’t ashamed to admit that he loves potato chips. But he doesn’t love how he feels after eating a bag of them. So, he came up with the idea of making a healthier chip—from chicken.

“I like to say that we ditched the potato and replaced it with a chicken breast,” says Wright of his brand, Wilde Chips, with headquarters in Boulder. “I had this idea in the back of my head about ‘How can I still feel good and get the satisfaction of snacking on a chip?’” Wright’s Carolinas roots furthered his inspiration.

“Growing up in the South, you know how to fry chicken. And I wanted to do something that was never done,” he says. “I wanted to launch a crunchy snack that has high protein and eats like a chip, made with real ingredients, with seasonings that you would find paired with chicken.” Hence flavors like Chicken & Waffles, Buffalo, and Nashville Hot.

Wilde Chips’ chicken is sourced only from farms with humanely raised and well-treated birds, fed an all-natural vegetarian diet free of antibiotics and hormones, Wright says. “We visit our partner farms and are always making sure that they are holding themselves to the highest humane standards.”

If you’re craving a high-protein crunch—one serving, about 15 chips, has 10 grams—give Wilde Chips a try. More at wildebrands.com.
