1. Do your nose a favor

Scent triggers memories and emotions, so it’s a powerful way to boost your mood and energy level. Use cleansers that smell amazing and pack a serious cleaning punch, such as method lime and sea salt all-purpose cleaning spray. The citrusy aroma will add some zesty fun to your household chores, and just like all of method’s products, it’s made with plant-based cleansers and other thoughtful ingredients, and without parabens or phthalates.

2. Listen to a podcast or audiobook

Sweeping, dusting, and disinfecting in the quiet can get a little tedious. If you find yourself restless and bored while you clean, don’t despair. Keep it interesting by tuning into your favorite podcast or listening to that audiobook you’ve been meaning to read. It’s way more enjoyable than sweeping in silence, and you’ll be so engaged that the time will fly by.

3. Chat with a friend

Do you and your friend keep meaning to talk to each other but never have the time to chat? Schedule a time, hook up your hands-free device, and have that call while you clean. Not only will you multitask and clean your home, but you may also be in a better mood after catching up with your friend. There’s nothing sweeter than that (except maybe the scent of method sweet water hand soap).

4. Reward yourself

When we have something to look forward to, we often approach our chores and responsibilities with more energy and anticipation. If incentives motivate you to complete tasks, plan to reward yourself at the end of a cleaning session with a special treat. For bigger chores, such as cleaning the gutters or power washing the windows, give yourself something extra, such as a massage.

5. Practice mindful cleaning

Bring your meditation practice to the next level by focusing on your senses as you clean. It’s a great way to be present in the moment. While washing dishes, pay attention to how the water feels on your hands. While you vacuum, feel the floor beneath your feet. As you clean the bathroom, smell the refreshing scent of method eucalyptus mint tub and tile bathroom cleaner. Try to focus on all the sensations a good cleaning session includes.

6. Use the right tools

Cleaning isn’t much fun if you don’t have the right equipment. Make sure you have the proper tools, such as a squeegee for the windows and a scrub brush for the tub. Ensure you use the right cleansers, too. You’ll need a multipurpose cleaner and a disinfectant. If you have hardwood floors, get a dedicated cleanser, such as method almond squirt and mop wood floor cleaner. It doesn’t contain abrasive substances, so it won’t destroy your finish. It’ll just leave your home smelling delightfully like almond cake.
